About Me

Amee Christensen MA LMFT (she/her/hers)
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Minnesota (MN license #3179).  I have been doing clinical therapy since 2015 following several years of working as a family support worker in public schools. Prior to having my own practice, I practiced at the Center for Grief and Loss (St. Paul) where I also facilitated level 2 trauma recovery groups, provided training  and educational presentations to a variety of groups, and facilitated Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. Through my work at the Center for Grief and Loss, I also co-developed and co-piloted a full-day training workshop for therapists on complicated grief.

I have a graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. Much of my subsequent training has been geared toward developing a competency in working with complicated grief, traumatic loss and chronic and acute trauma/PTSD. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, accepted, heard and empowered throughout the process, increasing awareness and understanding of grief and trauma reactions in self and others. I also work with a variety of other issues including mood disorders, anxiety, dissociative disorders, relational conflict/distress, parenting challenges, and life transitions.

I am an EMDR Certified Clinician, trained Psychological First Aid Responder and member of the Medical Reserve Corps. I have specialized and advanced training in reproductive mental health and pregnancy loss and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing.

My personal interests include doing anything with my family, spending time in the company of close friends, visiting amazing outdoor spaces*, relaxing at the cabin, reading, hiking, biking, playing games, laughing, and loving on my sweet dog. And indulging in Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
